ListenUp - Voice Forum

This is a very simple voice forum that allows users to record new messages and play the last few messages. You could develop a more complex voice forum using ListenUp and a server scripting language of your choice.

This forum uses JavaScript to control the PlayerApplet. This may not work on all platforms. Click here for a version that does not use JavaScript.

The messages are compressed using Speex voice compression algorithm. Speex is designed for speech but does not work well for music. To compress music messages we would suggest using ADPCM.

How To Use the Forum

1. Record your voice message using the red circle button. (Music won't work with Speex.) You should see the audio waveform appear as you record.
2. Note: The max recording time in this example is 20 seconds but you can increase the max time in your own application.
3. Stop using the blue square buttton.
4. Play your message back using the blue triangle button.
5. You can edit your recording by clicking and dragging on the waveform, then playing or re-recording. Right click to delete.
6. When you are happy with your message and upload it using the "Send" button.
7. Hit the browser refresh button to see recently added recordings in the list.
