About the JavaSonics Plugin
The ListenUp Applet, and other JavaSonics programs, need to record and play back audio. Some new computers have the standard JavaSound already installed in the browser. ListenUp can use JavaSound to read data from the microphone. Other computers need a browser plugin in order to record audio. The JavaSonics plugin is a combination of 'C' code and Java code that adds recording capability to your browser.
Please note that "JavaSound" and "JavaSonics" are different. "JavaSound" is a product of Sun Microsystems. "JavaSonics" is our own audio product.
These computers require the JavaSonics plugin to record audio:
- Apple Macintoshes running OS 7,8,9.
- Windows PCs using Internet Explorer and the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.
- Windows PCs using Netscape Navigator 4.0 and the Symantec Java Virtual Machine.
These computers do NOT require the JavaSonics plugin:
- Windows PCs using Internet Explorer with the SUN Java Virtual Machine.
- Windows PCs using Netscape Navigator 6.0+ or FireFox.
Out Plugin Wzard will determine whether you need the plugin and install it if necessary.
